Before you is an ominous and in its own right amazing sight to behold. The land is completely glassed for miles. Not a single tree, plant or anything grows on the blackened landscape. This land is scared permanently. The rock here is sharp and jagged but still strong and resilient unlike normal obsidian.

The sky here is littered with debris. The wind whistles as it slams through the impassible shards of floating rock and island. Looking around you notice that 9 massive chunks that would fit together if not for a massive hole between them all. They are off kilter and some rotated around. It looks as though all the rocks trail to a central location. Further inspection you notice the wreckage of previous sailors who thought to brave the broken islands.

At the center of the flattened land is a singular obelisk. It rises out of the shimmering Blackstone as its only landmark. Closer inspection reveals it is engraved with archaic runes and sigils. It gives off a faint sliver shimmer and the air wavers as though the area is still affected by an immense and unknown power.

Overview

This is the holy site of the arrival of The Silver Flame. The area just has an ominous feeling of profound power. No trees grow on the land but the new life is entirely different than that of the normal jungle.

Nearby is the Steppes port with a low floating island. The island is of a good size and has construction on it to dig out a decent sized sky ship port. The Order has been using this island very recently to continue their relations with the Valkyries. They have several cargo lifts assisted by Himinkryst to lift cargo and people to the docks. Another great boon is its close proximity to the river offering a smaller port for water-to-air transport.

Features & Dangers

  • Notable Feature(s): The Silvered Obelisk is the center focus of the area. This is where mortals first touched the power of the Silver Flame. The bottom of the monolith detail of the first meeting between the flame and its first host later to become the first Flame Keeper.
  • Mystical Effect or Oddity: Residual radiant energy near the Obelisk causes a faint, harmless glow on exposed skin and metal for about an hour after passing close — good for foreshadowing, bad for anyone trying to stay unnoticed at night.

Region Effects

  1. The glassed field of the Steppes is difficult terrain — sharp, uneven, and treacherous at a run. No amount of magic or deft strides impede this area for some reason.
  2. The valley itself is naturally warded against flight above a certain altitude by the drifting wreckage of rock and debris.
