A sight to behold unveils before you as you descend beneath the canopies. The sweet scent of honey permeates the air and you notice riders of giant bumble bees going about their business. At the center stands a grand rock split down the middle with crystals jutting out of the stone and a massive tree growing around it. The city design itself is that of a spiral with the main thoroughfare leading all the way to the center. Six elevated water canals race towards the center where the water then rises around the meteorite in a swirl before re-entering canals that lead to the edges of the city. Water is controlled not only as utility here, but as an attraction.

About Thyrakos
Thyrakos is one of the grand cities of the Amazonian kingdom. Derived from a massive crater in the ground the city sprawls out around a massive meteorite that has crystals pulsing with power from them. The amazonians fly about upon large bumble bees and this is one of the few cities that has a real airship port. They say that this city was where Theallia first touched Alaeternia The very ground is sacred.
Geography
The city is built within a large crater with the city terraced downward. It is built in the shape of a hexagon with 6 main roads spiraling down to the Dendryon Krysfragion (Crystal Tree Stronghold). Canals flow along with the main roads. Many connecting areas and the houses are built into trees and the terraced sides of the city.
Government
Similar to the Amazonian Government the city holds a council. This is often the 12 most prominent religious factions in the city. Thus the council is always a direct source to the peoples faith. The 13th member is Promanti Raynara Thyrrein as final adjudicator and ruler of the city.
Crime
Large crimes are very difficult to plan and execute within the city due to the vigilant watch of the Amberlance Patrol. The bees are very sensitive to disturbances and often such larger crimes can be swarmed upon with due haste. As such small petty crimes are much more common. Scams are rampant in the city, but worth a few coins over ones own life.
Defense
Thyrakos is defended by the Fangwardens. These elite warriors are comprised mostly of Amazonians but anyone dedicated enough can join. The patrol the city keeping the order. In the skies the Amberlance Riders roam about keeping watch from Giant Bumblebees.
Commerce
Thyrakos lives on faith. The crater, the meteorite and the crystals are the goods: pilgrims come to the place where Theallia first touched Alaeternia, and they leave with holy water, relics, honey and incense. The crater can feed its own people on volcanic soil from Thyrkrag Volcano, but it has no metal, no salt and no gems, and it cannot feed the crowds of a festival.
The city isn’t a large hub for trade, unless you are looking for many religious regalia and iconography. The main source for commerce will be the Chalkeion Agora with its many stalls and many storefronts. Any of the temples are also happy to provide their own products. Since this is such a religious hub its very easy to find all manner of inns and taverns.
It is also one of the few Amazonian cities with a real skyship port, so it earns docking fees (10 gp a day) and acts as the meeting point between ground and sky trade.
Organizations
All manner of religious temples are scattered around the terraces of the city. The temples to Existence are styled in Corinthian architecture. Others often lay near existences that align closer with their own deities. Other businesses are found such as the Silvenari or, if you know where to look, The The Umbral Zephyr.

Trade
Exports
| Good | Why here | Buyers / Destination |
|---|---|---|
| Himinkryst | Crystals grow from the meteorite where Theallia first touched the world. Extraction is a closely held secret, so the trade belongs to the crown, not the market | The Amazonian crown, for skyships and warding beacons. Never sold openly |
| Holy water | Drawn from the canals after they swirl around the meteorite | Temples across Moltara, pilgrims, healers |
| Religious items | Icons, regalia and relics from the temples and the Chalkeion Agora. A pilgrimage city makes souvenirs, the way medieval Santiago de Compostela sold scallop-shell badges | Pilgrims, sister temples, Selerria |
| Honey, mead & beeswax | Giant bumblebees forage the flowering canopy around the crater. Wax makes temple candles, and the fey-nectar mead is famous | Inns and temples everywhere, Silvenari brewers (Sountene honey wine) |
| Sky-silk | Silk-harvesting spiders kept in the city spin a fire-resistant thread | Skyship riggers, rope-makers, the Valkyries |
| Copal incense | Tree resin tapped from the surrounding jungle, the same incense the Maya burned in their temples | Temples in Moltara and abroad |
Imports
| Good | Why it’s needed | Supplier / Source |
|---|---|---|
| Precious metals | Silver and gold for reliquaries, censers and holy symbols. The only metal in the crater is the meteorite, and nobody is allowed to touch it | Silver from The Argent Pyre. Gold from overseas through the Xanthakte ports |
| Precious gems | Jewels for regalia, and diamonds that the temples use up in resurrection rites | Jewellers in the Amazonian capital, Argent Gem-erocities |
| Iron & tools | No iron ore in the crater | Lowland smiths, Drekteichas |
| Salt | An inland city. People, livestock and food preservation all need it | Coastal salt pans in Xanthakte |
| Festival provisions | The crater feeds its residents, but not the crowds of the Emberlight Festival and the Feast of Summer | Farms across Thyrpronoia |
| Fever-bark | A crowded city in a wet jungle fights fevers every year | The Argent Pyre |
| Fine wines & spirits | Noble inns like the Silver Fire Inn serve only the best | Silvenari topshelf, overseas vintages through Xanthakte |
| Pilgrims | The city’s real income. Pilgrims pay for lodging, offerings, relics and docking | All of Moltara, and lately the Valkyries |
Trade Routes
| Route | Goods | Method | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thyrakos to Selerria | Holy water, relics, sky-silk, mead | Skyship | 8.75 days | Avoids the Ventura Skies. The only regular sky route between the two religious capitals |
| Thyrakos to the Amazonian capital | Himinkryst, holy water, relics | Jungle road and river | TBD | ”All roads lead there.” Himinkryst travels under Fangwarden escort |
| Thyrakos to the Xanthakte coast | Honey, incense, sky-silk out. Salt, wine in | River barge | TBD | Rivers are the highways of the jungle, as on the Amazon |
| Thyrpronoia farms to Thyrakos | Grain, fruit, livestock | Cart and barge | A few days | Heaviest just before the festivals |
| Bee couriers | Letters, small relics, holy water vials | Giant bumblebee | Fast | Light cargo only, flown by Amberlance riders |
Trade Rhythm
The year peaks at midsummer with the five-day Emberlight Festival, the hottest time of the year. Pilgrims fill the city, food and ice come in, and relics, candles and holy water go out. The Feast of Summer follows the storm season and the first sprouting. The bees forage hardest after the storms, so the honey and wax harvest comes in just after it. Skyship traffic follows Moltara’s two winds. Ships leave for Selerria when the wind is behind them and stay away from the Ventura Skies when the two winds meet.
