Death collaborates with Existence of Life which creates Existence of Soul.

Death, Existence of Shadow and Existence of Time create the ethereal self.

Death is a very often misunderstood religion, but so are most of the other eight. Overshadowed greatly by Life, death remains unchanged and unmoving. Those who follow the doctrine for the religion often find comfort in knowing that there is an end to the journey they are on, that it is not a constant fear but something that naturally happens. Like the other powers of Existence, death is not time bound, save time.

There is no string of fate, there is no set time when a living being dies. This is also the reasoning that clerics and other priests develop comfort in reviving people. In their minds they are free to develop their own reasoning for why people are allowed to be brought back or remain dead. This means that clerics are still free to find comfort in believing in fate or in set times for people, but true high priests know that such beliefs are false.

If and when a living being dies their soul is rendered from the mortal plane and found in the plane of Dreams, this is usually for life reflection. If their will was strong enough to break back into the material plane these restless souls become apparitions of some kind. These wandering souls are dealt with by the Order of Soul derived from Existence of Soul. Death and Soul usually work in tandem. Soul is midway between life and death and they are responsible for finding lost souls to return them to the plane of Death to find rest.

Death clerics know that when a Soul has been brought to rest (to the Death Plane) that bringing them back is the greatest taboo known, but there is knowing that necromancers are free to use the souls of the dead that have yet to rest. Soul has a harder time collecting all the souls that die, so there is usually an abundance that have yet to move on, but it’s fairly rare for these souls to apparate in the material plane — they simply flow adrift in the Dream and their slumber.

Because of the almost randomness that souls get picked up to be carried to rest, clerics of Death know that revival is not always certain either. Revivals need a ritual of sorts to bring others back and these rituals don’t always succeed, but they certainly help. Each time a person dies, a more permanent tether to the Dream is made, making revival harder each time it is done. (See Rule - Death Rituals for the mechanical treatment of this.)

The life for a Cleric or Paladin of Death is often a lonely one, given that they are shunned by people for their own beliefs in death and the fear it brings them. Their deity is also fairly negligent — Death’s task is to keep the souls who are resting to remain in the realm they reside. This often leads Death to be somewhat negligent to their dedicated, requiring an even greater deal of devotion to attract Death’s attention.

In the material plane it is a great honor and blessing to have a funeral blessed with even the presence of a follower of Death. It has been said that they help the soul find peace and quicken their reach to the afterlife for eternal rest. Though Death priests are extraordinarily rare, more often it’s a priest from Soul or of Life that guides a funeral.
