One of the three constellations of the Legend of Lovyn, alongside The Chalice and The Dragon. Sacred to starseers who read Scerenciya, The Sparkling Jewel’s night sky.
Appearance
A small, gnome archer in a sneaking position, typically facing the Chalice in the sky.
Story
The Archer is the story of Lovyn, a hero sent to retrieve the Chalice of Sarencina from the grasp of a Great Dragon’s hoard. Lovyn’s tale is one of bravery and cunning. He sneaks into the Great Dragon’s lair and does successfully grab the Chalice, however once the Chalice was moved the dragon awoke. The Archer began to flee, occasionally shooting arrows very precisely, not attempting to kill the dragon, only to hinder it. He almost escaped, but the dragon snatched him right before he got out. Right before Lovyn died the Chalice suddenly burst into light, healing all of his wounds and repelling the dragon, allowing him to slip out and return the Chalice to where it belonged. When he eventually died, legend has it the Chalice’s magic immortalized him forever in the stars.
Meaning
When all three constellations of the Legend of Lovyn are clearly visible in the sky and completely uncovered by clouds, it means that a great quest of heroism is currently underway or near completion. These three constellations together are typically seen as a great blessing, not just for the subject of the reading but for everyone — though it is extremely rare that during a reading one or more are not missing.
Alternate Meanings
- The Archer and The Chalice: a blessing of some sort will come for the subject of the reading, normally right when they need it most.
- The Archer and The Dragon: the subject needs to take some caution — some great force is coming to them, but one that can be overcome.
- The Archer alone: a symbol for cunning and wit. The subject of the reading will need to use their brains to solve an upcoming challenge rather than other methods.
Firbolg Masks
Due to the Starseer Firbolgs making masks of animals, the Archer is often likened to a crow.
